The Central Community Circle Food Pantry was formed as a not-for-profit charity to fill
the void left by the closing of the John Lewis Food Pantry in Central Davenport. With
the help of an initial grant from a local foundation and
the dedication of Sister Marilyn Schierbrock we
opened our doors to the community in 2008.
Our history
How is the Pantry funded?
The Pantry receives no government
funding and relies exclusively on private
contributions from concerned citizens and
businesses. A few local merchants donate food
directly to the Pantry, but a majority of our food
supplies are purchased from the River Bend
Foodbank at greatly discounted rates, using donated funds.
How much of your donation will actually benefit those in need?
Virtually all of it. We are a 100% volunteer organization with no payroll. Other than the
cost of a single cell phone and some basic office supplies, there are no administrative
costs. The premises are rent-free, and our appliances, shelving,
maintenance and even the hosting of this website are provided
free of charge. We will strive to turn every dollar of your tax
deductible donation into a meal for someone who is truly in need.
How can you help?
We have been blessed with steady community support, but our
ability to serve those in need is limited by the resoucres
available to us - and the need is ever increasing. If you can
make a monetary donation please do so. If you know of any local food merchants
(including farmers and hunters) who can donate food please ask them to contact us. If
you are interested in offering your services to the Pantry please contact Anna Osbourne
